1/11/19 Field Trip: Valley Oak Wool and Fiber Mill

Posted by Judi Pettite on

My buddy Donna wanted to get some of her bags of wool washed and made into roving, so why not tag along and hang out with Marcail in her miraculous mill! Marcail graciously showed us around and entertained various and sundry questions about types of wool and how it gets processed at her mill in Woodland CA. She does it all, from scouring wool, to carding, making roving, batting and yarn. She's a natural dyer to boot and we had a long conversation about pokeberry and its variety of hues on wool.
